Why I Chose Low-Carb Clean Living Over Keto

The journey that changed the way I think about health.

There was a time when I believed the hardest part of improving my health was losing weight.

I counted calories.

I ate less.

The number on the scale slowly went down.

But after the weight was gone, another question quietly appeared.

“How am I supposed to live for the rest of my life?”

Losing weight had an ending.

Living well did not.

Discovering Keto

When I discovered the ketogenic diet, it felt like a completely new world.

Unlike restrictive meal plans that relied on eating the same foods every day, keto offered more flexibility.

I bought grass-fed butter.

I learned to make Bulletproof coffee.

I experimented with keto ingredients in my own kitchen.

I even traveled to Vietnam and skipped one of its most famous dishes—pho—because I wanted to stay committed.

The results were encouraging.

I wasn’t as hungry.

I felt full longer.

The weight came off.

There were many things I genuinely appreciated about keto.

The Question That Wouldn’t Leave Me

Over time, however, one question became impossible to ignore.

“Can I still live like this ten years from now?”

Could I keep eating this way for decades?

Would I always need specialty products?

Would every family dinner or trip require careful planning?

Around that time, my health checkups showed something interesting.

My total cholesterol was high.

My HDL cholesterol was over 100.

My triglycerides were very low.

I understood what those numbers meant.

But that wasn’t what stayed on my mind.

The real question was much simpler.

Is this sustainable?

My Mother’s Smile

Around that time, I began applying some low-carb principles to my mother’s meals.

I baked keto bread.

I made keto tiramisu.

She took one bite, smiled, and said,

“It tastes like a dream.”

I still remember those words.

For a moment, I truly believed I had found something that might help both of us.

When Everything Changed

Not long afterward, my mother was diagnosed with cancer.

Surgery followed.

Then treatment.

Watching her go through that journey changed the way I understood health forever.

I realized that health could never be explained by blood sugar alone.

Nutrition mattered.

Recovery mattered.

Sleep mattered.

Stress mattered.

Human health was far more complex than any single diet.

Eventually…

my mother was gone.

The Quiet Kitchen

The evening after the funeral, my father and I walked to a nearby restaurant.

We shared a simple meal together.

We didn’t talk very much.

The next morning, I woke up late.

The house had become unusually quiet.

I filled a pot with water and made a simple bowl of instant noodles.

My mother wasn’t there anymore.

After eating, I opened the refrigerator.

The keto ingredients I had bought for her were still there.

One by one, I threw them away.

Years have passed since that day.

Yet I still remember that quiet kitchen.

Looking for a Way to Live

That day, I wasn’t giving up a diet.

I was letting go of the idea that perfect health could be found in a single eating plan.

What I truly wanted wasn’t another diet.

I wanted a way of living that I could return to every day.

I don’t dream of living forever.

I simply hope to live as healthily as I can for as long as I can.

Illness may come.

Life will never be perfect.

But I want to build habits that help me return to balance whenever life pulls me away.

Giving That Life a Name

Over time, that lifestyle became something much bigger than reducing carbohydrates.

It included walking after meals.

Strength training.

Quality sleep.

Paying attention to my body’s signals.

Returning to healthy routines instead of chasing perfection.

Eventually, I gave that lifestyle a name.

Low-Carb Clean Living.

What Is Low-Carb Clean Living?

Low-Carb Clean Living isn’t simply about eating fewer carbohydrates.

It’s about building a healthier life through balanced nutrition, sustainable daily habits, movement, rest, and learning to understand your body’s signals.

Health doesn’t begin with a special product.

It begins with the way we live every day.

Why I Don’t Believe in Cheat Days

People often ask me about cheat days.

I don’t really believe in them.

Because cheat days usually exist when everyday life feels like punishment.

I travel.

I enjoy meals with family.

Sometimes I eat differently.

Life isn’t a perfectly straight highway.

Some days you travel one meter.

Some days one kilometer.

What matters isn’t perfection.

It’s knowing how to return to your main road.

At DiaLife, there are no cheat days.

Only everyday life—and the choice to begin again.

A Life Worth Returning To

I don’t regret my years on keto.

Without that experience, I may never have discovered what truly mattered.

Low-Carb Clean Living wasn’t created to criticize another way of eating.

It grew from years of research.

Personal experience.

Family memories.

Loss.

And hope.

Today, I don’t chase perfect health.

I simply eat.

Walk.

Rest.

Learn.

And return.

Again and again.

That is what Low-Carb Clean Living means to me.

And that is the life I continue to choose.
